HULU LANGAT, Nov 4 — 30 families in Kampung Batu 3, Semenyih, affected by the floods in July, received RM7,500 in assistance from the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI.
Its social responsibility and corporate communications head, Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, said each family received a RM250 cash donation.
“I understand that previously, Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan had provided initial assistance, and today we are providing additional aid to the affected victims.
“We hope this assistance will somewhat help meet their needs,” he said during the aid handover ceremony at Kampung Batu 3’s Village Community Management Council’s operations room in Semenyih today.
On his part, Sany expressed his gratitude for MBI’s concern for the residents’ needs in these challenging economic times.
“MBI is one of the state government agencies which is always compassionate and actively looking out for the welfare of the needy,” he said.
One of the recipients, Sharaini Wani, 40, said the assistance will be used to purchase household necessities damaged in the floods.
“This incident resulted in much damage to our belongings, even though we attempted to save them. We did not expect the water to rise up so suddenly.
“I have been residing in Kampung Batu 3 for the past 20 years, and floods occur frequently, especially during heavy rainfall. Thank you for this donation; it can at least help meet our needs,” she said.
