Six UniMAP lecturers ranked among world’s top 2pct of scientists

KANGAR, Nov 21 — Six Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) lecturers have been featured among the world’s “Top 2 per cent Scientists” by the US-based Stanford University.

The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also UniMAP chancellor, said the six lecturers were Professor Dr Subash Chandra Bose Gopinath;  Professor Ts Dr Mohd Mustafa Al Bakri Abdullah; Professor Ts Dr Uda Hashim; Associate Professor Ir Ts Dr Azwan Iskandar Azmi; Associate Professor Dr Liew Yun Ming and Associate Professor Dr Voon Chun Hong.

“The World’s ‘Top 2 per cent Scientists’ list honours those who have successfully produced a substantial number of citations across multiple disciplines, in addition to being recognised on the ‘Career-long & Single Year Citation Impact’ list,” Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said in a statement today.

The Raja Muda of Perlis’ message was displayed on a giant screen in conjunction with the sixth session of UniMAP’s 18th Convocation at Dewan Ilmu, UniMAP’s Alam Pauh Putra Campus in Arau, yesterday.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin added that the recognition demonstrates UniMAP’s exceptional performance in scientific research, which has not only enhanced the reputation of the university but also the country.

“This achievement proves that UniMAP’s teaching staff and academic standards are on par with those of the world’s best universities,” he said.
