Sultan Sharafuddin visits Sarawak’s Anglican Bishop

SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 — The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, visited the residence of Sarawak’s Anglican Bishop, Datuk Donald Jute, in Kuching yesterday.

A part of His Royal Highness’ four-day official visit to the state, the Sultan was accompanied by Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Datuk Lela Jasa Diraja Selangor Datuk Richard Curtis.

Upon arriving, Sultan Sharafuddin was greeted by Donald’s wife, Datin Julita Jute, and Donald’s immediate predecessor as Anglican Bishop of Sarawak and of Southeast Asia, Datuk Bolly Lapok.

His Royal Highness took the time to exchange views on current affairs with Donald and Bolly, both of whom have extensive experience in interfaith dialogue, representing the Anglican Church.

Sultan Sharafuddin was also given a tour of some of the main areas of the historic residence of the Sarawak Bishop in Kuching, which was built in 1849 and is the oldest European-designed religious house in the state.
