Amirudin Shari remains Selangor Keadilan chief, Juwairiyah gets vice-chairman post

By Danial Dzulkifly

SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president and Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has been retained as the chairman of the party’s state leadership council.

Tanjong Sepat assemblyman Borhan Aman Shah will also keep his position as deputy chairman, as will former Kajang assemblyman Hee Loy Sian, who retains the vice-chairman I post.

The positions of Women and Youth chiefs are also retained by former Permatang assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin and Kota Damansara representative Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim.

However, there are several changes to some of the top posts as Selangor Keadilan looks to reorganise the state leadership lineup, taking into consideration the evolving political landscape.

Selangor Keadilan communications director Mohd Afiq Mohd Tuniman, in a statement today revealing the new leadership line up, stressed the necessity for a rejuvenation by integrating fresh faces and ideas.

“All the appointments take effect beginning December 1, and are believed to be able to promote the Kita Selangor agenda as well as the well-being of the nation under the Malaysia Madani leadership,” he said today.

Among the key changes in the Selangor Keadilan leadership council are the appointments of Sentosa assemblyman G. Gunarajah as vice-chairman II and former Bukit Melawati assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli as vice-chairman III.

The latter recently lost to former menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for the Hulu Kelang seat in the August 12 state election.

Gunarajah and Juwairiya replace former Sungai Buloh MP Sivarasa Rasiah and Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail respectively, who are both appointed as ex-officio members.

Other notable changes include the appointment of Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri as the new organising secretary, taking over from Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad. Yahya was previously Selangor Keadilan election operations director.

Saifuddin, meanwhile assumes the role of the state’s strategic director, succeeding Yaakob Sapari, who transitions to the position of elections director.

Afiq himself has been designated as the communications director, a role previously held by Pelabuhan Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri.

In other appointments, Mohd Khairuddin Othman remains the state’s party secretary, Elizabeth Wong as the treasurer, Halimey Abu Bakar as information chief, Mohd Azhar Achil as mobilisation chief, and Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor as training director.

Two state executive council members — Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi, Seri Setia assemblyman Muhammad Fahmi Ngah — have been appointed as ex-officio members.
