PETALING JAYA, Dec 4 — Golf and medical tourism are set to be given greater attention in the state next year in anticipation of the Visit Selangor Year 2025.

Tourism Selangor event and focus tourism manager Mohamad Faroul Mustaffa Ngadamin said the agency will introduce specific packages for these two tourism markets.

He said packages that combine the two categories could also increase the number of domestic and international tourists arriving in Selangor.

“Selangor is the state with the most golf courses in Malaysia, with 29. We can certainly promote these.

“We are also optimistic the packages we will introduce in the near future will be able to generate interest from among locals and foreign tourists,” he said.

He was met at the Selangor Golf Championship 2023 closing ceremony at the Seri Selangor Golf Club, here, yesterday. The ceremony was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari in a separate programme earlier.

The golf tournament, which has entered its fifth year, was participated in by over 100 golfers, comprising individuals from the public and private sectors and media practitioners.

Meanwhile, Farouk said he welcomes cooperation between the government and corporate sector to jointly organise a bigger golfing event next year.

“This tournament is highly anticipated by golf fans, and we intend to organise a larger-scale event in the future.

“If we can work together with other agencies or the private sector, it will be better. It will also attract more tourists to Selangor,” he said.
