KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — The Malaysia Productvity Corporation (MPC) is targeting job opportunities for youth 18-years-old and above to be trained as skilled workers through their involvement in Academy in Industry (AII).
MPC director of management services and finance Mohd Yazid Abdul Majid said MPC is developing a skill stream to enable school leavers to be trained and are recognised with Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) after the training period.
“This is in line with the interest of the younger generation today who prefer to work after finishing school to earn wages and obtain qualification certificate at the same time without having to shoulder education expenditure and to look for work later.”
He said in a live interview on The Nation over Bernama TV in conjunction with One Year with Madani Government celebration which will be held on the grounds of Bukit Jalil Stadium from Dec 8 to 10.
He said at the ceremony, the Finance Ministry with the cooperation of investment companies, government linked companies, Social Security Organisation (Socso) and the private sector will organised a Career Carnival which offers job opportunities from non-executive to executive and senior executive posts.
Also joining the event is a recruitment exercise by the Malaysian Armed Forces including Army, Air Force and Navy.
A total of 42 companies are offering about 45,000 vacant posts during the carnival.
