KLANG, Dec 15 — The Selangor government has issued a stern warning to illegal factory operators in the state to undergo regularisation process or face potential land seizure.
State executive councillor for local government Ng Suee Lim said this in appealing to the illegal operators to comply with the respective local council’s laws.
He said while the state has been considerate in looking for a win-win situation by educating operators on the need to comply with existing rules and regulations, its patience has limits.
“We will go after those who refuse to take part in this regularisation process,” he said after attending a town hall with illegal factory operators under the administration of the Klang Municipal Council today.
Over 400 individuals attended the session at Hotel Premiere, here.
“We admit there are some stubborn operators, yet the state government has continued to take a considerate and holistic approach in the interest of all parties, seeing that they also contribute to the economy.
“However, if they remain obstinate, we will instruct the respective local councils to issue Form 7A under the National Land Code for the revocation of land ownership rights.”
Ng said once a land is seized, the owner will be required to pay a land premium in order to regain possession, with the value to be determined by the state government.
This is as the land will then be deemed to belong to the state.
On a similar note, Ng said the state government will formulate a new policy next year to streamline and facilitate the registration process of factories.
“Other than enhancing enforcement, the state also wants to assist and facilitate factory operators in various aspects, including payments (for registration).
“We will provide the best assistance, but they must come forward, or else they will face further action,” he said.
