SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 — The Tourism Selangor account on the TikTok app has become one of the main references for domestic and international tourists seeking information about holidaying in the state.

Its corporate communications manager Ahmad Nazri Tashriq Rahmat said they have shifted to using 95 per cent of their promotional efforts for new and popular tourist locations through digital means.

“The Tourism Selangor account on TikTok has nearly 200,000 followers with a total of two million likes, in addition to receiving over 500,000 views on uploads.

“This indicates that promotional activities via digital platforms have been successful, with the average visitor referring to them first when planning their trips to interesting places in Selangor,” he said when contacted.

Nazri added the active promotions include agrotourism in Sungai Panjang, the Natural Therapy Forest House in Hulu Selangor, the SplashMania Water Theme Park at Gamuda Cove in Kuala Langat, and Skyline Luge in Rawang.

From January to September this year, 4.8 million local and foreign tourists visited the state, with several areas being focal points.

The Petaling district received the highest number of visitors at 2.8 million due to its gastronomical attractions, including cafes and shopping centres.
