Unemployed man charged with murdering landlady

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — An unemployed man was charged at the Selayang Magistrate’s Court today with murdering his elderly landlady two weeks ago.

Mohamad Amirul Arshad Zainudin, 22, nodded when the charge was read out before Magistrate Chai Guan Hock. However, no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The accused allegedly killed Hong Kee Ing, 70, in a car park at Jalan E4/1, Taman Ehsan, Gombak, between 8.30pm on November 22 and 9.50pm on November 23.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a death sentence or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Nor Hakimi Mohamad Rosedin appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.

The court set January 16, 2024, for mention pending the chemist and autopsy reports.
