Hijrah Selangor sets aside RM60mln allocation, provides business opportunities on Shopee

SHAH ALAM, Jan 10  — Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah Selangor) aims to allocate a total of RM60 million this year to cover all its initiatives.

Its chief executive officer Dato’ Mearia Hamzah said Hijrah Selangor will continue with existing schemes to help more entrepreneurs who need financial assistance.

“We are always committed to helping local entrepreneurs. No new initiatives will be introduced but we will continue with existing initiatives,” she said at a press conference.

Earlier , today, she attended the 2023 Payback and Win Campaign lucky draw at the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) office.

Mearia added that, this year Hijrah Selangor focused on helping entrepreneurs develop their business, especially on the Shopee e-commerce platform.

She said the agency had already started a Hijrah Official Store on Shopee last September and had received a favourable response from both traders and buyers.

“So far, we have 19 products and will add more in the future. The products on offer include jerky, and sambal among other things.”

Meanwhile, a total of 100 entrepreneurs won prizes at the Hijrah Selangor Pay Back and Win Campaign 2023.

Mearia said all the winners were selected from the 703 entrepreneurs, who participated in the inaugural programme from January 1 to December 18.

“This campaign aims to appreciate entrepreneurs for their seriousness and discipline shown in making financing repayments.

“Those selected to participate in the programme were those who paid back the loan every week without any arrears,” she said

The draw was conducted according to two categories, Category 1 for funding of RM30,000 and below and Category 2 for funding of between RM31,000 and RM100,000.

The prizes on offer include holiday tickets, electronic goods and a main prize on five grammes of gold and a 50-inch smart television with a total value of RM20,000.

The lucky winner will be contacted by a Hijrah Selangor representative to claim the prize.
