MB orders Seri Kembangan market’s battered roads repaired after public complaint

SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — The longstanding issue of potholes and uneven road surfaces at the Pasar Borong Selangor in Seri Kembangan is set to be a thing of the past very soon.

This is after Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari instructed the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), the entity responsible for the wet market, to take prompt action following a complaint by a social media user.

Netizen @IlliFadli raised the matter on X (formerly known as Twitter), requesting the state government carry out repair works on the damaged roads, which have proven to be a nuisance to those who frequent the market.

He tagged Amirudin in a post this morning after claiming to be uncertain as to who he should refer the matter to.

“I hope the state government, as the owner of the pasar borong, can repair the roads in the area, especially adjacent to the shop lots housing Balaji Enterprise,” he posted

The post was accompanied by several photos and a video showing the current road condition.

Just an hour later, Amirudin responded to the post, tagging @myPKPS and instructing the state entity to take action.

In its response, PKPS said repair works will get underway next week.

“For your information, PKPS has appointed a contractor and resurfacing works will commence on January 15,” it said.

Pasar Borong Selangor in Seri Kembangan is a state government project that began operating in May 2001 and is aimed at developing and modernising the agricultural sector.

Its primary objective is to create a local wholesale marketing space for agricultural products and provide an opportunity for farmers to venture into the agricultural wholesale sector, thereby minimising the use of middlemen.

The market offers 310 lots that can be rented for between RM900 and RM1,200 per lot.
