Applications for MBI back-to-school assistance opens next week

PETALING JAYA, Feb 18 — Applications for the Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated) or MBI for back-to-school assistance programme will open from next week, said its chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.

According to Saipolyazan, the programme that helps 16,800 students from low-income families (B40) can be applied for at the representative’s or the State Assembly coordinator’s office.

“Next week a special assistance programme for the provision of school equipment worth RM100 will start it will involve all state assembly members and state assembly coordinators.

“The quota for each state assembly is 300 recipients and they can make an application to buy school clothes or necessary equipment,” he said at a circumcision programme jointly organised by MBI, the Damansara Community Service Centre and the Ara Damansara Medical Centre.

Recently, MBI announced that RM1.7 million has been allocated to 16,800 students from low-income families for this year’s school session.

Last year, the state’s subsidiary allocated more than RM10 million to empower the education sector

including the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme, school aid and infrastructure donations.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the corporation channelled RM25.5 million in aid to education agencies between 2021 and last year.
