KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 19 — The Kuala Selangor Parliamentary office took full advantage of the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable sales programme in the Jeram state constituency today to promote several Federal and state government initiatives.

Its special officer Mohd Maskor Tumiran said the office used the event at Dewan MPKS in Desa Coalfield to raise awareness about the Federal government’s Central Database Hub (Padu) and Selangor’s Skim Air Darul Ehsan (Sade).

“Some residents are unaware of the benefits of these programmes, so we explain and assist them in registering as they may not be too well-versed in digitalisation,” he said at the event.

The JER programme was attended by some 300 residents who came as early as 8am to purchase discounted daily goods.

Maskor said almost all visitors had purchased rice and eggs as they were cheaper, and these products are also currently hard to find elsewhere in the market.

“So far this year, the sale has occurred three times here. We strive to organise it more frequently to assist residents in their shopping and alleviate the burden of living costs,” he said.

JER, which is managed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), offers standard chickens at RM10 each, fresh solid beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM13).

In addition to organising discounted sales at selected locations every day except on Fridays and public holidays, PKPS also signed a memorandum of understanding with supermarket chain Segi Fresh to implement JER at 55 of its premises.
