Madani Rakyat: Students thrilled over free Rahmah internet package

KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 25 — Various attractive offers are provided to teenagers and youths, aged 12 to 30, at the central zone Madani Rakyat programme at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex, including the free Rahmah mobile internet package.

Student Mohd Asyraf Ramli, 20, said that he took the opportunity to get the package because he failed to obtain it at the Madani Government’s One Year Anniversary Programme at Bukit Jalil Stadium, last year.

“The Rahmah internet package is very beneficial, especially for students and the B40 group, as we really need access to the internet to search for information and complete specific tasks.

“I also hope that the internet speed in this country can be improved, because rural or suburban areas like where I live in Rawang have limited internet coverage,” said the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) student.

The Unity Government’s initiative was also enjoyed by Harith Fahmi Muhammad Suhaimi, 13, who received the package free of charge at the Communications Ministry booth here today.

“Alhamdulillah, today I came with my family and never expected to have the opportunity to receive this Rahmah internet package service. The process is simple, just register and provide your identification card, and then you can get the package.

“With this government-provided package, I hope I can use it to search for information and access the internet to meet my learning needs,” he said.

The Rahmah mobile internet package is a government initiative, offering special prepaid packages to help address the increasing cost of living.

This initiative is provided for target groups, including teenagers and youths, aged 12 to 30; senior citizens; retired police personnel; Malaysian Armed Forces veterans, and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel; persons with disabilities; and the B40 group.

Meanwhile, at the Ministry of Communications booth, several lucky draw activities, quizzes, and digital portrait painting sessions were also held.

Ministry of Communications principal assistant secretary (Service Management Division), Ba’yah Bachok, said that visitors to the booth were given information about the ministry and its affiliated agencies.

“In addition, visitors can also obtain portraits of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, free of charge, where the public only needs to scan the QR code and we will send the material directly to their mobile phones.

“Furthermore, at the booth, the public can also obtain various important information, such as courier services. Many are unaware that if their online deliveries are delayed, they can lodge complaints with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC),” she said.

The three-day programme, which ends today, starting from 9 am to 10 pm, focuses on activities related to agriculture and food security, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and the well-being of the people, besides various services provided by the federal government agencies and the Selangor government in particular.
