SHAH ALAM, Feb 27 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has struck a partnership with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, in a bid to empower local entrepreneurs in the state and create a conducive environment for businesses.

MBSA corporate and public relations director Mohd Azhar Mohd Sharif said the collaboration will see a joint campaign held between the local authority and MBI’s subsidiaries, Platform Selangor (PLATS) and Yayasan Hijrah Selangor.

“This cooperation aligns with the objectives of the Usahawan@Shah Alam entrepreneur development programme, which aims to foster a holistic and conducive ecosystem in support of the state’s entrepreneurship development agenda.

“Among the activities lined up for implementation are entrepreneurship training, the opening of new business opportunities, financing aid, product marketing initiatives, and the provision of strategically located business premises,” he said in a statement.

This comes after the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between MBSA and MBI at the MBSA Convention Centre yesterday.

Shah Alam Mayor Cheremi Tarman represented MBSA in the signing ceremony, while MBI was represented by its chief executive officer Saipolyazan Mat Yusop.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi was also in attendance to witness the occasion.

To kick off the collaboration, MBSA’s booth at Alam Impian, Section 35, will be designated as a prototype location for the ‘Digital Booth’ which adopts PLATS’ digitalisation concept.

Azhar added the same location will also be operated by Hijrah Selangor in the upcoming Ramadan fasting month while concurrently serving as a hub for collecting used cooking oil.

“In addition, this MoU also encompasses various collaborative initiatives, including the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by Petronas, in line with the goal of reaching 10,000 charging stations by 2025,” he said.
