SHAH ALAM, Feb 18 — RM547,000 in subsidies were allocated through the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable basic necessities sales programme in January under the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS).

PKPS Group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the total sales value at 46 JER locations across Selangor in that time was RM1.64 million.

“At the beginning of January, sales were temporarily halted to maintain our trucks and replenish supplies but resumed on January 15. From then until January 31, RM547,000 in subsidies were recorded.

“Through sales at these 46 locations, 120,000 citizens benefited from the programme, in collaboration with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry,” he told SelangorKini.

Khairil added that PKPS will continue to sell basic necessities at low prices at 1,120 locations throughout this year.

“In preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, we will organise mega sales, with consideration given to additional locations.

“To start with, the proposed mega Aidilfitri sale will be held on April 6 and April 7,” he said.

JER offers standard chickens for RM10 each, solid fresh beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), five-kg cooking oil (RM25 per bottle), and five-kg rice (RM13 per bag).

In addition to organising JER at selected locations every day except on Friday and on public holidays, PKPS has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Segi Fresh to expand access to local residents.
