Royal visit jazzes up Gagasan Rumpun Selangor state tour

HULU SELANGOR, Feb 21 — The Gagasan Rumpun Selangor statewide tour, which kicked off in Hulu Selangor today, was enlivened by the presence of Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, who went to the ground to engage with the community.

The programme commenced with His Highness’ tour around Jalan Mat Kilau in Kuala Kubu Bharu, with his arrival welcomed by the rhythmic beats of traditional Chinese drums.

He then made a short stop at a nearby restaurant before visiting the Kuala Kubu Bharu Back Lane Art Gallery, accompanied by state executive councillor for unity Datuk Rizam Ismail and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council president Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd.

They dedicated approximately an hour to exploring the vibrant art gallery, which displays 100 mural paintings by local children.

The 1km-long art lane showcases a diverse array of paintings, portraying themes ranging from tourism and local history to adventurous activities and the Orang Asli community, which have become a key tourist attraction in Kuala Kubu Bharu.

Throughout his visit, Tengku Amir Shah accommodated requests from people of various races who sought to capture moments with him while engaging with them and exchanging friendly conversations.

At the alley, His Highness was entertained with a Silambam martial arts performance alongside traditional Malay and Orang Asli dances, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage.

After visiting Kuala Kubu Bharu, Tengku Amir Shah then proceeded to Rumah Bonda in Batang Kali, where he greeted Federal and state government officials of the Hulu Selangor district.

The Raja Muda is scheduled to continue his road tour this evening by visiting Kampung Orang Asli Hulu Tamu in Batang Kali and the Bukit Sentosa pasar malam before dining with representatives from Federal and state departments at Fraser Valley in Ampang Pechah.

The Gagasan Rumpun Selangor road tour encompasses several other programmes, including the Rumpun Selangor Unity Carnival at the Hulu Selangor district level, which will take place at the Kuala Kubu Bharu Multipurpose Hall and Sports Complex starting tomorrow.

During the tabling of the 2024 Selangor Budget in November last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM4.5 million allocation for the Gagasan Rumpun Selangor campaign.

The grassroots initiative aims to foster unity and celebrate the state’s diverse cultural heritage, reflecting Selangor’s commitment to social harmony and inclusivity.
