Sultan Selangor Cup supporters encouraged to use public transportation

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Viewers and supporters have been advised to use public transportation when coming to watch the clash between Selangor and Singapore in the Sultan Selangor Cup (TSSC) at the Merdeka Stadium on August 17.

TSSC committee chairman Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar said Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has agreed to extend operations until 12.30am on the match day.

“There are four stations near the stadium, namely the LRT Hang Tuah station, the MRT Merdeka station, and the Hang Tuah and Maharajalela Monorail stations.

“We advise spectators to use public transportation to ensure smooth travel as construction is ongoing in the stadium’s surrounding area which may cause traffic difficulties,” he said.

Speaking to the press after inspecting all the stations yesterday, Abd Karim said the stadium’s three main entrance gates will be opened to facilitate supporters’ movement.

Gates Three and Four are designated for the Merdeka MRT station, Hang Tuah LRT station, and Hang Tuah Monorail station, while Gate Eight is for the Maharajalela Monorail station.

“Tickets priced at RM10 will be sold based on the stadium’s seating quadrants, which will be printed on the tickets along with the main entrance gate number.

“As such, supporters are advised to stop at the station nearest to their respective gate number,” he said, adding the committee expects 20,000 spectators to attend the match.

TSSC, involving a traditional match with Singapore, will be held after a four-year delay due to Covid-19.

The last TSSC in 2019 witnessed Selangor’s Choice defeating Singapore’s Choice 1-0.
