SHAH ALAM, March 22 — A total of 500 Digital Rahmah coupons worth RM10 each were distributed to the visitors at the Hijrah Bazaar in Alam Impian yesterday.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the initiative is in conjunction with the Platform Selangor (PLATS) Masuk Bazar campaign held at eight bazaar locations throughout the month of Ramadan.

“It is part of PLATS’s initiative to encourage traders to use online payment methods towards digitalising their businesses.

“It not only adds value for these traders, but visitors as well as they will get RM10 to spend,” he told reporters after a walkabout at the Hijrah Bazaar.

Najwan said the digitalisation of businesses is crucial to ensure traders can better confront rapid changes in technology and expand their business potential.

Previously, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, announced an allocation of RM40,000 to ensure the success of the PLATS Masuk Bazar campaign.

MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the distribution of the RM10 Digital Rahmah vouchers is made possible with the cooperation of the Petaling Jaya City Council, the Shah Alam City Council and the Kajang Municipal Council.

PLATS was introduced during Ramadan 2020, following the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, to assist micro, small and medium enterprises in digitising their business.

It also introduced the PLATS Entrepreneur Development Training (U-PLATS) programme to aid entrepreneurs in managing their businesses digitally.
