Campsite planning guidelines approved for use by operators, local authorities

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 — The 82nd National Council for Local Government (MNKT) meeting held at Parliament today approved the Guidelines for Campsite Planning (GPPTP) as a guide for planning and ensuring safe, sustainable, and legally compliant campsites.

The Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Ministry said the guidelines for users, operators, and local authorities focused on three main aspects, namely site planning, development and monitoring mechanisms, and campsite operational management.

Also approved was the Guidelines for Management and Star Rating of Public Toilets in Malaysia, replacing the Guidelines for Star Rating of Public Toilet Cleanliness in local authority areas.

The MNKT also agreed on the Guidelines for the Supervision of Home-Based Businesses, which serve as a guide to local authorities nationwide in implementing compliance and enforcement of home-based business activities.

“The main aspects summarised in these guidelines include features of home-based businesses, site plans and business area coverage, requirements and procedures for business licence applications, as well as details of permitted business activities,” KPKT said in a statement.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, also agreed and was committed to continuing to lead the urban sustainability agenda to support economic development and improve the people’s well-being.
