Cops urge all parties to stop playing up 3R issues

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 — All parties must stop playing up issues related to the 3Rs (religion, race, and royalty) which can ignite disharmony among the people, said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

“I would like to take this opportunity to advise everyone to stand down. Enough is enough. We do not want to see another incident (like the Kampung Medan riots). That would only worsen the country’s image,” he said at a press conference today.

Yesterday, former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin called on incumbent Youth chief Muhamad Akmal Saleh to stand down over the socks issue involving the KK Mart convenience store as the legal procedures had already commenced.

As of yesterday (March 26), ten police reports have been lodged regarding the KK Mart incident.

“We are aware that two individuals were charged yesterday, while five others were charged based on two investigation papers, and the rest are still under our investigation,” Shuhaily said.

The police have also opened investigation papers regarding threats to burn the factory supplying the socks.
