SHAH ALAM, March 5 — The state government has enhanced the Selangor Mental Sihat (Sehat) program by introducing clinical psychology treatment since October last year.

State executive councillor for public health Jamaliah Jamaluddin said subsidising psychiatric and psychological treatments are among the steps taken to strengthen mental health care among Selangor’s residents.

“The state government prioritises good and effective mental health care by introducing the Sehat program in 2021.

“Starting in 2022, it has improved Sehat by introducing subsidies for psychiatric and psychological treatments for individuals in need.

“Indeed, this subsidy was also extended to clinical psychology in October last year,” she said during the winding-up session in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

The state government launched Sehat with a RM500,000 allocation to address mental health issues since the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

The programme allows users to assess their mental health status via self-administered ‘stress scale’ and ‘risk assessment’ screenings.
