SHAH ALAM, March 26 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) distributed Hari Raya Aidilfitri assistance to 50 recipients under a RM12,500 allocation.
Its mayor Cheremi Tarman said each recipient received a hamper of festive essentials and RM100 in cash.
“The recipients consist of low-income families (B40), the elderly, single mothers, the urban poor, and disabled persons.
“This programme aims to alleviate their burden while also providing an opportunity for joy to these groups in celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.
Cheremi was speaking to the press after the Prihatin MBSA donation programme, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, at Dewan MBSA Kiambang in Section 7 today.
Meanwhile, recipient Jumariah Yakob, 60, expressed gratitude for the assistance, which she described as somewhat relieving the burden of purchasing festive items.
“Alhamdulillah, we are thankful for this assistance as it helps our family save on kitchen expenses,” she said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Asyhraff Ishak, 31, a first-time MBSA assistance recipient, was deeply touched and hopes it will continue in the future.
“I thank the council for this assistance. It may be small to some individuals, but for me, it is significant. I hope contributions like this will continue,” he said.
