‘Meriahnya Raya Bersama PKNS’ carnival targets 5,000 visitors

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 —The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is targeting the attendance of 5,000 visitors to the ongoing ‘Meriahnya Raya Bersama PKNS’ Carnival, which is taking place at Datum Jelatek Shopping Centre, here.

PKNS entrepreneur development manager Yuzawati Yusof said that the target could be achieved, based on the variety of interesting activities being lined up throughout the carnival, from March 5 to April 21.

Among the activities is the sales of raya items, including traditional clothes, such as Baju Melayu, Baju Kurung, songkok and sampin, as well as raya decorative items, cakes and snacks, by 20 PKNS entrepreneurs in the centre court, which is expected to generate a sale value of RM100,000.

“The carnival will also be enlivened with a meet-and-greet session with PKNS entrepreneur ambassador, Datuk Rosyam Nor; a fashion show by PKNS BizClub Entrepreneur fashion designers; a family photo booth and buskers’ activities every weekend, in addition to stage performances throughout the carnival,” she said at the launch of the carnival, today.

Yuzawati expressed hope that the carnival will help start-up entrepreneurs promote their products, in addition to being a platform for PKNS entrepreneurs to expand their business network.

At the same time, she also hopes that the public will be able to purchase items for their Aidilfitri preparations at a cheap price, as well as helping boost business activities in the shopping centre.

Meanwhile, Datumcorp International Sdn Bhd operational monitoring officer Tengku Khairil Azwan Tengku Abdul Samad said that the carnival could become an annual event, to enliven the atmosphere of Ramadan and Aidilfitri in Datum Jelatek.

This is due to its strategic location, which is next to the Jelatek Light Rail Transit (LRT) station, which directly connects commuters with the shopping centre, in addition to providing the facility of a spacious parking space for a fee of only RM1.
