Selangor to expand Jualan Ehsan Rahmah ahead of Aidilfitri

By Yasmin Ramlan

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — The state government is expanding its Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable basic necessities sales programme in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration next month.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said plans are in place to hold a special road tour for the programme, organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), which will cover several locations and focus on three zones.

“We will announce it to the public soon. The programme will involve several locations in the state on set dates, covering at least three zones,” he said, adding that the locations may include Selangor’s northern, southern, and central areas.

The initiative will only be held in three zones, considering factors including different capacities across districts, area suitability, the availability of supplies, and time constraints.

Speaking to the press after witnessing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) and iMotorbike in Glenmarie today, Amirudin said the series of the tour would be carried out before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday.

Last year, JER recorded RM30.8 million in sales, which led to Selangor residents saving an accumulated RM18.1 million via the programme. It was held in over 1,000 locations statewide last year.

The programme offers six basic items, including chicken, beef, fish, chicken eggs, rice, and cooking oil. It is also set to offer several other food items like bread to meet public demand.

In previous instalments, JER offered whole standard chickens priced at RM10 each, fresh solid beef at RM10 per pack, Grade B chicken eggs at RM10 per tray, alongside mackerel and sardines at RM6 per pack, 5kg cooking oil at RM25 per bottle/can, and 5kg packs of rice at RM10 each.
