Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that during the 1.30am incident, a man fired two shots, with one shot hitting a local man who is also a bodyguard.

“The police have identified the suspect and launched an operation to track him down after he is believed to have fled to the north,” he said when contacted.

Hussein said the incident was due to a personal issue and was unrelated to terrorist activities or groups.

“Investigations found that the suspect had intended to shoot his wife, who was waiting for the arrival of an umrah group,” he said, adding the victim suffered severe injuries due to the shooting.

The motive of the incident is still under investigation, and the case is being investigated as an attempted murder under section 307 of the Penal Code and the Firearms Act.
