HULU SELANGOR, April 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari spent time conducting his habit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri visits, this time in Kuala Kubu Baharu yesterday.

He began the programme by joining an Aidilfitri feast with 200 residents of Kampung Pasir Kerling and distributing duit raya to over 30 children.

Amirudin then visited the Hulu Selangor Umno Veterans deputy chairman Md Yusoff@Mustafa Kamarudin at his residence in Taman Pesara, which local residents also joined in.

Afterwards, he attended an Aidilfitri feast in Kampung Ampang Pechah with 100 residents from various walks of life before continuing to visit Aidilfitri feasts in Taman Seri Batang Kali.

The Menteri Besar also joined in the Chittirai Puttandu (Tamil New Year) celebration later at night.

Speaking to the press, Amirudin said the spirit of unity among the various races in Kuala Kubu Baharu was evident when open houses or Aidilfitri feasts had guests from various backgrounds, and not just from the Malay community.

“This is the strength we have built over time. I believe the contributions of the late Lee Kee Hiong (Kuala Kubu Baharu’s former assemblyman) and this leadership have successfully fostered harmony and close agreement among the various races,” he said.

Meanwhile, Yusoff@Mustafa, popularly known as Anjang Kamarudin, was effusive in his thanks to Amirudin, expressing his utmost respect for the Menteri Besar’s proactive leadership and his ability to address and highlight the issues facing Selangor’s residents.

“We need representatives like him in Parliament. Regardless of our past disagreements, I respect representatives who intelligently raise issues that matter to the people instead of trivial matters.

“He is the second Menteri Besar to visit my home, even though we knew about his visit three or four days in advance. Our preparations were modest as he had instructed that no special reception was necessary since he just wanted to visit the people,” he said.
