Selangor channels over RM1.5 mln to 440 mosques statewide

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — The state government has contributed RM1.54 million to 440 mosques across the state as a gesture of appreciation for the places of worship.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the contribution is part of the Kita Selangor Aidilfitri Incentive initiative, which has helped its recipients prepare for Hari Raya Aildilfitri.

“InsyaAllah, the state government will continue to support the mosques as religious institutions that channel the message of Islam in Selangor,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the Unity Government in Selangor continues to champion the welfare of its imams, bilals, siaks, and nazirs by providing various forms of assistance annually.

“(Hence), the accusation that the Unity government in Selangor neglects the welfare of this group is false and purely slanderous,” he said.

Yesterday, Amirudin handed over the donation at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. Also in attendance was the state executive councillor for Islamic affairs Dr Fahmi Ngah.
