Host of govt services on offer as Madani Rakyat takes to Penang

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 — The Madani Rakyat 2024 programme for the Northern Zone, offering 196 services from ministries and government agencies, will be held from tomorrow until Sunday.

The programme, which will take place at the Sungai Nibong Pesta site in Penang from 9 am to 10 pm serves as a platform for the local community to understand and assess the new policies and initiatives implemented by the Madani government in efforts to improve the welfare of the people.

The second series of the Madani Rakyat 2024 programme for the Northern Zone, organised by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (Pacu) in strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the Penang state government, covers three northern states of the peninsula, namely Penang, Kedah, and Perlis.

Various attractions await visitors, focusing on the welfare of the people, unity, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and integrated public transportation.

Among the highlights are the Career Carnival offering over 1,500 job opportunities, discounts of up to 50 per cent at the Royal Malaysian Police traffic summons counters, and the exchange of helmets organised by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) with 5,000 units provided free of charge.

The programme targetting 100,000 visitors also offers an e-wallet voucher worth RM20 for the first 1,000 visitors to the Madani Sale as well as a discount of up to 20 per cent on various Rahmah Sales.

MOT as the lead ministry of the programme will also set up a special pavilion housing 15 agencies under it, as well as ministries and local authorities offering various services directly to the people.

To facilitate public transportation, MOT will provide intermediary bus services from 10 am to 10 pm and free ferry services from the Sultan Abdul Halim Terminal in Butterworth to Raja Tun Uda Terminal in George Town throughout the programme.

The KTM Komuter Utara services will also be available for two days on May 4 and 5, involving travel from Padang Besar and Ipoh to Butterworth.

The closing ceremony of the programme on May 5 will be held together with the Madani 2024 Aidilfitri event, which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Madani Rakyat 2024 programme is a continuation of the Madani government’s one year anniversary programme held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium last December.

The programme serves as a platform for the public to obtain services directly from Federal and state government ministries and agencies, as well as an opportunity for the general public to provide feedback and suggestions for improving the quality of government services.
