SHAH ALAM, SEP 20: Caring for the rakyat is a principle which is a main component of the state’s administration in ensuring those less fortunate are always protected.
Recently, 34 families were placed at the Dewan Kampung Tok Muda temporary evacuation centre following the occurrence of high tides since yesterday in the state’s territorial waters.
The initiative came from the Health, Welfare, Women and Family Development Exco Dr Daroyah Alwi who also ‘turung padang’ and distributed aids and other necessities to the victims.
Among the items distributed were mats, blankets, pillows, towels, toiletries and ‘temporary stay’ facilities.
In that development, Daroyah and the government agency involved came down to the fields to observe themselves the conditions of river erosion at Kampung Sungai Serdang, Klang.
The observation found that the surrounding mangrove area could no longer withstand the soil structure, which caused the erosion.
The issue has been brought to the attention of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) for immediate action in order to prevent any unwanted incident.
“As early as 8.30 this morning, the sea water once again surpassed the tire which is supposed to be the barrier, ultimately flooding several areas.
“The problem has been raised to JPS and other departments involved and we hope this incident does not happen again,” she said a short statement this morning.
