BY: ERMIZI MUHAMAD
PUTRAJAYA, OCT 12: Johor KEADILANhas claimed that three more Johor Umno assemblymen will be joining the opposition and strengthen its presence in the state.
Bukit Batu Assemblyman Jimmy Puah said an announcement will be made soon.
“We have taken note that there are three more assemblymen from Umno who will join us and leave Umno.
“This is a good sign that will weaken Umno’s presence in Johor.
“At this time we are still waiting to make the announcement,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Free Anwar Solidarity Gathering at the compound of the Palace of Justice today.
Puah said that support from Johor society for the opposition coalition is gaining strength with the participation of Umno supporters in opposition programmes.
Umno-Barisan Nasional has lost the two-thirds majority in the Johor state assembly for the first time when Jorak Assemblyman Datuk Dr Shaharuddin Md Salleh announced that he was joining Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia helmed by its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
His actions have weakened Umno’s position in the Malay nationalist party’s birthplace, Johor.
