BY: LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, MAY 4: Permata was urged to disclose the total cost that the Federal Government incurred for the agency’s seven-day visit to London, United Kingdom.
Damansara Utama Assemblyman, Yeo Bee Yin also demanded to know the necessity of the visit with two ministers accompanying the Patron.
He said it also raise many questions in view that public sector spending and subsidies have been rationed by the Umno-BN government.
“If it’s using taxpayers’ money, should the government fork out a big amount of money for this tour when various budgets for nearly all public service sectors and subsidies are cut.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said also joined the tour.
Rosmah is scheduled to officiate the Nobelist Mindset, a programme jointly organised by PERMATA Pintar with the Royal Society of London.
She is also expected to witness the signing of two Letters of Intent (LOI) between PERMATA Pintar with Cambridge University, and PERMATA Insan with Oxford Center for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford.
Elaborating further, Mr Yin, who is also a Selangor DAP committee member questioned the need to hold the Nobelist Mindset Ceremony abroad when it was previously held in Malaysia.
“The same goes with the LOI. Does Permata really need to pay for the ‘glamourous’ cooperation and how much does it cost,” he said.
