60-minute limit to address PJ parking woes

PETALING JAYA, Feb 19 — A two-hour limit parking should be enforced by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in Jalan 52/2, Petaling Jaya New Town in order help the public who are visiting the area to run errands.

Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said the time limit in the city’s commercial area should be imposed as most public bays are often occupied during office hours.

“In December last year, I held a press conference to seek the people’s views on the proposal and many had expressed support towards the two-hour limit.

“I have also received e-mails to speed up the system so that it would free up more bays for those visiting the area,” he said at a press conference at the Bukit Gasing Community Service Center, here today.

Rajiv said he leaves it to MBPJ whether to continue the RM0.60 parking rate or to issue summons to cars that have parked their vehicle for over two hours.

“I hope that this system would be implemented soon so that it can benefit many others,” he said.
