Only police, army, Rela allowed to conduct patrols

KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 — There is no permission has been given to anyone to conduct patrols during the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) until March 31, said Gombak district police chief ACP Arifai Tarawe.

He said during the implementation of MCO period, only police, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel were allowed to conduct patrols.

“No permission has been given to anyone to conduct patrols and everyone should stay at home,” he said in a statement yesterday, in response to a video clip featuring a group of village security members conducted patrols at Kampung Changkat in Gombak which went viral on social media.

Arifai said further investigations on the matter were underway.
