Fire victims receive contribution from Zakat Board

By Zareef Muzammil

GOMBAK, April 13 — A family in Gombak Utara who had lost their home in a fire incident on April 9, received a RM500 donation from the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS).

LZS in a statement said, the preliminary emergency aid was handed over to the Operations and Regional Distribution Management Department district head Muhd Salahuddin Azmi Muhd Ali when he visited the victims on Friday (April 10).

“We will channel the remaining financial aid directly to the bank account belonging to one of the victims, Wan Syaima Syiren.

“The aid would hopefully provide temporary relief to the family during this testing time,” LZS said in a Facebook post today.

LZS said short-circuit was identified as the cause of the fire incident.

“During the incident, (Wan Syaima), her husband and her children were sleeping in a room.

“Her husband woke up and discovered that their house was full of smoke and most of their home had been razed by the fire. He had to jump out of the house from the first floor and was also helped by the neighbours,” the statement added.
