Mountain climbing is allowed from June 15

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has confirmed that hiking is among the sports and recreational activities that will be permitted by the government beginning June 15, provided social distancing and stipulated standard operating procedures (SOPs) are adhered to.

“Mountain climbing is allowed from June 15 2020,” was the brief reply by KBS in answering questions by netizens on its official Facebook page, KBSMalaysia.

Previously, most climbers were confused as to whether hiking was allowed under the rest and recreation category.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that several sports and recreational activities would be allowed under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) beginning tomorrow, with strict compliance of the government’s SOP.
