SHAH ALAM, June 19 — The Selangor government will continuously conduct Covid-19 screening operations at all senior folks’ care centres in the state to identify new cases.

State executive councillor Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said this is because the virus can be unknowingly transmitted if the necessary precautionary measures and hygienic practices are not observed.

“The Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) would conduct door-to-door visits and have the residents and staff at the senior folks’ care centres tested.

“The state had carried out the first screening operation at an senior folks’ home in Kuala Langat, which was done by Selcare Clinic Sdn Bhd.

“The testings have to continue as someone who had been tested negative for Covid-19 may still be infected by the virus,” she said at a press conference at the Annex Hall of the Selangor state secretary (SUK) building, here yesterday

Dr Siti Mariah had also reminded the senior folks’ care centres operators to ensure that the premises are kept clean and to observe the preventive measures to avoid contracting the Covid-19 infection.

On Monday, the Health Ministry had identified a new cluster involving a senior folks’ home in Kuala Selangor after three of its residents were tested positive for Covid-19.
