Adhere to SOP during Aidiladha, Muslims told

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — Muslims in the country are reminded not to take lightly compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOP) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration especially when frontliners are still struggling to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri said Muslims should always be sensitive and maintain social distancing, cleanliness, be courteous and wear face masks during Aidiladha, especially when performing sacrificial rituals.

“For this (sacrificial ritual) we have an SOP set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the National Security Council so therefore it is hoped the public would refer and comply with it.

“Information related to this SOP will be posted on our website (mira.gov.my) as well as Facebook and Instagram (Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri) for the reference and understanding of the public,” he said when met by Bernama.

Muslims in the country will celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha on Friday (July 31), according to the announcement of the assistant secretary to the Conference of Rulers Mohd Aseral Jusman.

Dr Zulkifli said the SOP outlined by the government was aimed at curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and Muslims must comply with government’s directives for everyone’s benefit.

“The Covid-19 infection statistics around the world are increasing every day, so it is the responsibility of every individual to obey all instructions and advice of the government for the good of the whole community.

“Many religious scholars from all over the world agree that the community must comply with all government directives in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
