SHAH ALAM, 21 Oct — The Selangor Xtiv Virtual programme will be continued next year after seeing an overwhelming response with 178,081 participation recorded since it was launched in May.

State Youth, Sports Development and Human Resource Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the Selangor government had initiated the programme to keep up with the current trend among the youths.

“The programme includes the Selangor Xtiv Virtual e-Sport, Selangor Xtiv Virtual Run, Selangor Martial Art Xtiv, Selangor Xtiv Fifa Pro Club and the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Youth Busking.

“At the beginning, it was organised to encourage active participation during the movement control order (MCO) period, but due to the overwhelming response, we have decided to run the event next year,” he told SelangorKini.

Mohd Khairuddin said Selangor is the only state that had managed to successfully hold an online sporting event on a large scale with attractive prizes up for grabs.

“We also saw the participation from overseas including from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, India dan the US,” he said.
