Covid-19: 238 new cases in Selangor, new cluster in Klang

SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — Selangor has today recorded 238 new Covid-19 cases out of the daily nationwide total of 1,309 cases.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are no imported cases reported in the state.

“Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest daily cases at 493 cases (37.7 per cent), whereby 473 (95.9 per cent) of that total were from workplace clusters.

“This is followed by Sabah with 290 new cases (22.2 per cent) and Selangor with 238 new infections (18.2 per cent),” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement today.

He said one new cluster, the Yayasan Cluster, was identified in Klang out of four new clusters that emerged today.

“Out of the 238 new cases reported in Selangor today, 113 were from existing clusters which included 8 cases from the new Yayasan Cluster, 49 cases from close-contact screenings, and 76 others were from other Covid-19 screenings,” he said.

According to the data by the Selangor State Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Klang recorded the highest new daily infections with 80 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (57), Petaling (39), Gombak (31), Kuala Langat (16), Sepang (14) and Sabak Bernam (1).

Both Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor recorded zero new cases.

As of noon today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 13,533 out of the nationwide total 64,485 cases.
