Unexploded bomb found in Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG, Jan 29 — An old unexploded bomb was found half-buried in the ground in an oil palm plantation in Felda Perasu, near here, Tuesday evening (January 26).

District Police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the bomb was found by a resident from a nearby area at about 7.48pm before reporting the matter to the Gua Musang District Police Headquarters.

He said a team was rushed to the location to confirm the discovery and the area was sealed off immediately.

“The Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) from the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) arrived at 1pm on Wednesday (January 27) to examine the bomb and confirmed that it was still active,” he said when met here yesterday.

According to Sik, the UPB then made preparations to dispose of the bomb and it was safely destroyed in an hour-long operation carried out yesterday.

He also praised the resident who found the bomb for reporting the matter quickly.

“We hope such cooperation (from the public) will continue, so that we can together maintain security to prevent any untoward incidents,” he said.
