UiTM vice-chancellor appointment issues should be resolved immediately — Alumni association

SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — The Universiti Teknologi Mara Alumni Association (PAUiTM) hopes issues regarding the appointment of UiTM vice-chancellor can be resolved immediately.

Its secretary Shukri Ishak, in a statement yesterday said this is for the sake of the interest of the university that requires leadership.

The media has previously reported that Prof Dr Roziah Janor has been appointed as the new UiTM vice-chancellor, succeeding Prof Emeritus Datuk Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim.

However, her appointment had been postponed in a letter dated August 7, 2021.

Shukri said PAUiTM believed that the appointment of Roziah had been made after going through a rigorous selection process by the UiTM Vice-Chancellor Promotion Interview Special Committee.

“PAUiTM is also confident that the Committee has made the best assessment, based on merit and qualifications, as well as recommended suitable candidates for consideration by former Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, who had appointed Dr Roziah in a letter dated August 2, 2021,” he said.
