15 KDEB subcontractors receive ISO certification

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 — A total of 15 KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd subcontractors have been certified with the Quality Management System (ISO) 9001 that is approved by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh).

KDEBWM managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the achievement is commendable as it is an internationally-recognised standard of compliance to work procedures.

“The subcontractors went through three phases of auditing, namely for the preparation and compliance of documents, for internal audit and for external audit before being awarded the certificate.

“This demonstrates our strong commitment in managing the state’s solid waste in accordance with established standards,” he said in a statement.

Ramli said the certification will be used as a benchmark to the more than 1,000 subcontractors of the company to ensure that their waste collection work is done according to the highest standards.

“Congratulations to all 15 companies for their cooperation and efforts. This will be the best example to all.

“KDEBWM will also continue to give our best and come up with new ideas to ensure we can deliver top quality work,” he said.
