SHAH ALAM, Oct 10 — Hulu Selangor’s district capital Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) is set to be registered as a national heritage zone, which will make it a new attraction in the state, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He explained the registration process is currently underway by the Department of Town and Country Planning.
“This effort is suited to KKB’s capacity and image as the first planned town in Malaysia. Its grid and arrangement was the impetus to all modern cities in the country.
“It should be preserved, so that it can be introduced to the wider society as part of Malaysia’s history on modernisation, which was inspired by the formation of KKB,” Amirudin said during the Selangor Budget 2022 briefing session at Hotel Wyndham in Klang yesterday.
The Menteri Besar added the state government is making special plans for KKB, and is awaiting the process.
“KKB’s status as a national heritage zone is expected to take up to a year to complete,” he said.
