KLANG, Nov 2 — 11 areas in Klang district are at risk of flooding following the high tide phenomenon and Northeast Monsoon, which is expected to run from November 4 to 7.
District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) Klang acting chairman Mohd Shahrizal Mohd Salleh said the areas include Kampung Tok Muda, Kampung Sungai Pinang, Pulau Indah, Pandamaran, Taman Selat Damai, Port Klang, Kampung Sungai Serdang, Ban Sementa, Ban Sungai Keramat, Kampung Perepat, Pelabuhan Utara, Telok Gong, dan Pulau Ketam.
He added the residents in the aforementioned areas have been asked to remain vigilant, and prepare for relocation to temporary relief centres.
“JBPD Klang has also mobilised a surveillance team, led by the fire and rescue team to monitor high risk areas during the high tide phenomenon,” Shahrizal said after visiting Pandamaran 12’s water entrance earlier today.
He said that based on the forecast for November 4, the phenomenon is expected to take place at 5.21am, 6.02am on the next day, 6.40am on November 6, and 7.18am on November 7.
“The water level could reach up to 5.6 metres throughout the period,” he said.
