MB offers condolences to family of RMAF pilot killed in crash

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has extended his condolences to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilot who was killed in the Hawk 108 fighter jet crash in Penang yesterday.

“Inalillahiwainnailahirajiun. Condolences to the family of the late Captain Mohamad Affendi Bustamy, who perished in the jet incident at the Butterworth Air Force base, in Penang,” he wrote on Twitter.

Amirudin also expressed his prayers for the recovery of Major Mohd Fareez Omar, who was injured in the incident.

In a statement yesterday, the RMAF said the incident occurred at approximately 10.07pm, when both pilots were conducting a night flight test.

Although Mohamad Affendi did not survive, Mohd Fareez is said to be in a stable condition, and is now being treated at Hospital Seberang Jaya, Penang.

“Both pilots are married, and their families have been informed of the incident. RMAF will ensure the welfare of the victim’s family remains a priority,” it said.
