Covid-19: Denial of viral fake news on Nov 30 — KKMM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 — Following is the denial of viral news on social media, issued  by the agency concerned through the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia’s (KKMM) Quick Response Team at 10.30 am:

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has refuted allegations, which went viral on social media, that the Omicron variant, with 32 protein spike mutations, which is twice as many as the Delta variant, was detected in Perak.

MOH said that to date, no case linked to the Omicron variant has been detected in Malaysia.

The public is advised to stop disseminating information from unauthentic sources, which can cause confusion and anxiety among the community, and should instead refer to MOH’s official social media to obtain authentic information.
