Massive cleanup in Taman Sri Muda this Sunday — KDEBWM

SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — A total of 100 staff from KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) will be involved in a large-scale post-flood cleanup operation in Taman Sri Muda, Section 25, here this coming Sunday.

The operation will focus on digging and clearing clogged drains and ditches, including collecting bulk waste, said its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir.

“Taman Sri Muda is a large area and it takes quite a long time (to be cleaned) compared to other places which are already cleaned with the focus only on regular cleaning and bulk waste collection.

“We hope the residents remain patient and give their cooperation by maintaining the cleanliness of the surrounding area to facilitate KDEBWM work,” he told SelangorKini.

He urged residents in the area who still have bulk waste from the flood to gather it immediately for collection by KDEBWM.

“We seek cooperation from Taman Sri Muda residents. Although the collection period is actually over, we will continue helping to keep the area clean,” he said.

KDEBWM is a wholly-owned state government’s subsidiary entrusted to manage the domestic waste collection in Selangor.

The company has been actively involved in the cleaning works at flood-stricken areas in stages since December 20, 2021.

As of January 7, a total of 78,000-tonne metrics of waste have been collected in collaboration with local councils and other agencies.
