SHAH ALAM, May 10 — The plight of two families who lost their homes in a fire at Kampung Bahtera, Batu Caves on Sunday has caught the attention of Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a Facebook post, he announced that the Sungai Tua state constituency Community Service Centre has made arrangement to rent homes for the victims.

Amirudin added they have also allocated funds to repair the victims’ homes.

“Upon arriving from Sabah I went straight to Kampung Bahtera Batu Caves and visited two families affected by the disaster on early Sunday morning when their homes caught fire.

“Apart from giving immediate contributions, the service centre is also making arrangements to find temporary rental homes for the families and funds to repair both houses,” said Amirudin, who is also the Sungai Tua state assemblyman.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre said the 4.13am fire resulted in 80 per cent damage to the two houses.

“The fire did not involve any victims and lives, but a car was wholly destroyed and a van sustained 10 per cent damage. The fire took two hours and 45 minutes to extinguish,” said a spokesman at the centre.
