Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin launches coffee table book featuring RTM personalities

KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 — Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin launched a coffee table book titled ‘Di Sebalik Nama Orang RTM’ published by the RTM Veterans Association (PVRTM) here today.

Published for the very first time, the book contains facts and information about 76 personalities drawn from PVRTM members who were Malaysian Broadcasting Department (RTM) broadcasters and those who served behind the scenes.

PVRTM president Zohara Gany Mhd Bathusha said they took about a year to complete the book given the complicated fact-finding process, especially for personalities who have died.

“To select 76 personalities from about 1,200 existing members is a difficult task, but we have to choose. We give preference to those with seniority and add those who have just retired into the mix.

“We also included personalities from other departments such as cameramen, editors, radio announcers, producers, music balancing and others. This gives us a balance. Personalities aren’t just broadcasters but also those behind the camera, as what they do is important as well,” she told Bernama after the launch of the book today.

Meanwhile, Zohara said they expect to start work on the second edition in the middle of this year, and will feature about 30 to 40 PVRTM personalities.
